Death and Facebook
Death and Facebook

Place: Purgatory
Time: Eternity
You found out he was dead when his mother posted on his Facebook page about losing her baby too soon and you clicked through to his friends not saying it in so many words but they’re saying he made himself unalive and your heart sinks as you remember the time when you were seeing each other and he reached out in desperation for closeness you could not give and don’t you think digital death is so strange like people and relationships that pass away and become trapped in a purgatory web like the eternal blush of your grandma commenting on your off-colour joke or a post-mortem DM from your aunt just letting you know about an investment opportunity you simply cannot pass up or people you may know including your ex’s beautiful new girlfriend and it’s all just little buds of grief sprouting randomly from the grass around social media graves like stale heartbreak resurfacing from neural networks just waiting for the worst time to refresh your memory.
