Hello world! Much time has passed since I last published a blog on my website. I took a little blogging hiatus to take a job as a radio copywriter with Indie88 – a Toronto indie rock station. It was a fun little 2.5-year ride where I learned a lot about writing voiceover scripts and got to work with some of the best production and voice talent in the business. (Fun fact: my mom was once a radio copywriter and much of my family still works in radio so I guess you could say it’s in my blood!)

At Indie88 I was given the creative freedom to be as wacky and silly as I wanted to be… a dream for a creative writer like me. In the process, my team and I entered a few of our commercials, promos and imaging into The Crystals Awards — which are given to the best radio creative across Canada. Entries come from large and small market stations as well as advertising agencies, and the winners are announced at a super fun, open bar schmoozefest at the TIFF Bell Lightbox.

I am proud to announce that during my time at Indie88 I was lucky to win 4 Crystals with my creative team: a Silver in 2017, and 2 Silvers and a Gold in 2018. Big thanks to Indie88 for giving me creative freedom to be a weirdo and run with my wacky ideas, especially to producers Kyle Taylor and Dave Cockram.

My time at Indie88 has now come to an end. I have accepted a contract position with a PR/Marketing agency called Proof, where I will be writing mostly digital copy for their clients.
